Nicholas Kenny is the Texas AgriLife Extension Service irrigation specialist based out of Amarillo, covering the entire Texas Panhandle and portions of the South Plains (Region 1 and portions of Region 3). The primary focus of Kenny’s work is agricultural irrigation efficiency, including crop water use (ET), irrigation application efficiency and timing, and pumping plant efficiency. Additional expertise includes residential and landscape irrigation. Kenny operates under the philosophy that the role of Extension in agriculture is to provide cutting edge information and management tools to agricultural producers, essentially bridging the gap between research and production agriculture. Current efforts are focused on updating and improving Web based information dissemination in addition to the in-field and presentation based methods that Extension is known for. Kenny’s approach is heavily influenced by bottom-line, profit-based agriculture.
