Resources: Family Development and Resource Management

As an Extension Specialist in Gerontology Health, Andy Crocker's main focus is the health and well-being of the aging population in the State of Texas. His role is to support the Family and Consumer Science County Extension Agents in their outreach efforts to the elderly population in their counties. His research interests include development of web services for older adults as well as sex education and disease prevention in the older adult population.

Since joining Texas Cooperative Extension in 2003, Andy has worked to develop web resources to help older adults navigate the web better, help prevent falls in older adults and provide information and referral to grandparents rearing their grandchildren. He is the author of a six-lesson series intended to help older adults improve their memories through use of memory strategies, proper nutrition and medication management.

Andy serves on a number of boards in the Amarillo area including the Senior Ambassadors' Coalition and the Amarillo Area Breast Health Coalition. He also serves as a member of the Amarillo VA Hospital Research and Development Committee. Andy's professional memberships include the Gerontological Society of America, the Texas Association of Aging Programs, Texas Cooperative Extension Specialists Association, Epsilon Sigma Phi and Sigma Phi Omega.

Andy Crocker holds a B.A. in Biology and an M.S. in Gerontology from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
