  • Assist with disease surveys of the Texas Panhandle.
  • Conduct diagnostics of viral diseases for Great Plains Diagnostic Network (GPDN).

  • Washed dishes and assisted in general lab duties.
  • Trained for detection of a variety of plant viruses using ELISA, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Real Time PCR.
  • Assisted GPDN diagnostician in diagnosing and entering data into the Plant Diagnostic Information System.

1/99-5/02 Student worker, Microbiology Dept.; Amarillo College, Amarillo, Texas

  • Prepared Biology Labs and tutored students in Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, and Biology.
  • Prepared bacterial cultures and media.
  • Washed dishes and general lab duties.

  • Basic laboratory equipment such as pipettes, micro centrifuges, microscopes, scales and balances, autoclaves, bunsen burners, and preparation of chemical solutions.
  • Computer software- Microsoft word, Excel, Internet Explorer etc.
  • Cloning, recombinant DNA techniques, restriction endonuclease analyses.
  • Greenhouse maintenance including plant growth and care.
  • Training in the use of a CPN 503 DR neutron moisture meter

  • I received the Robert E. Mckinley scholarship from the biology department at Amarillo College 2000.
  • I served on a student panel for a nation wide evaluation of colleges and universities 2001.
  • Received the Who’s Who Among Students of American Junior Colleges 2001-2002
  • Served as Treasurer and then President of the Biology Club at Amarillo College 2000-2002
