An emerging disease of potato is threatening the United States potato industry.  This disease has been named “zebra chip disease”, owing to characteristic damage seen in tubers that is amplified when tubers are fried for potato chips.  These chips take on characteristic dark brown radiating striped patterns, hence the name “zebra chip”.  However, this disease is not exclusive to chipping potatoes and all varieties are susceptible.  Read more at the SCRI Zebra Chip Web Site.
