Rangeland Nutrition and Management Program

June 21 @ 10:30 am - 5:00 pm

Free

“We are hosting this meeting as a part of our beef cattle in-depth lecture series,” Mason Carter, AgriLife Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent, said. “This is an important time for beef cattle nutrition, as rainfall has been plentiful, and our rangeland has an abundant supply of plant production.

“It is important to utilize these plants when they have expressed their prime growth and before they reach peak maturity and start to lose their nutritive value. Producers can capitalize on these this year at a time that is historically dry by grazing these fresh, growing forages when they are at their highest nutritional value.”

Topics and speakers include:
– Early Summer Rangeland Nutrition and Essential Plant Species, Dr. Tim Steffens, AgriLife Extension range specialist, Canyon.
– Prescribed Burning Impacts on Rangeland Nutrition and Economical Benefits, Dr. Morgan Treadwell, AgriLife Extension range specialist, San Angelo.

The final location will be decided the day before the event. Contact Carter at 806-823-2522 or mason.carter@ag.tamu.edu for more information.
