Renda Nelson serves as the Better Living for Texans (BLT) Regional Program Manager for the North Region. Her role is to provide support for BLT Assistants, County Extension Agents and staff involved with delivering nutrition education to limited income families and individuals in the counties which surround Amarillo, Lubbock and Vernon. Other activities include assisting BLT assistants and agents in identifying audiences receiving, or eligible to receive, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits in order to provide educational programs that increase the likelihood that recipients will make healthy food choices.

Joining Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in 2012, Renda’s previous work experience includes working with the University of Missouri Extension as a nutrition educator, overseeing and leading continuing education and customer service programs for a rural medical center and teaching health and wellness courses at the college level.

Her professional memberships include the Texas Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, National Association of Professional Women, Phi Epsilon Kappa and Delta Psi Kappa.
