TCFA Feedyard Technician Program

2023 Overton Cattle Care and Handling Program
Enrollment Deadline: January 27, 2023

Program is open to High School Juniors and Seniors who
have not previously participated in the program.

Registration Fee: $100
Preference will be given to High School Seniors, enrollment is limited

 Prerequisites:

  • Principles of Agriculture, Feed and Natural Resources
  • Livestock Production
  • Veterinarian Medical Applications
  • Work Experience
  • Livestock Projects

Training-April 18 and 20
Registration- 8:00- 8:30

           Break out Groups:

          Group 1: 8:30– 10:15 Cattle Behavior and Handling – Dr. Ron Gill,                        Professor and Extension Livestock Specialist, Texas AgriLife Extension  

 Group 2: TCFA BQA and Pharmaceutical Training- Dr. Jason Banta, Assistant Professor and Extension Beef Cattle Specialist, Texas AgriLife Extension

10:30-12:15    Repeat sessions

12:30 Lunch

1:30 Adjourn

Testing-April 19 and 21
Registration- 8:30

                  9:00 Testing

                            Skills Test

                            Written Test

                            Interview

                 12:00 Lunch and presentation of certificates

Participants who successfully complete the program by attending all trainings and achieve an average test score of 70 or above will receive a certificate of completion and a jacket or a vest.
