TCFA Feedyard Technician Program

2023 Panhandle Cattle Care and Handling Program
Enrollment Deadline: January 27, 2023

Program is open to High School Juniors and Seniors who
have not previously participated in the program.

Registration Fee: $100
Preference will be given to High School Seniors, enrollment is limited

Prerequisites:

  • Principles of Agriculture, Feed and Natural Resources
  • Livestock Production
  • Veterinarian Medical Applications
  • Work Experience
  • Livestock Projects

Classroom Training:

  • Review videos available on our website prior to attending onsite training

Onsite Training:  April 3,4,5

  • Cattle Behavior and Handling
  • Pharmaceutical Training
  • Texas A&M AgriLife Research Center, Bushland

Testing: April 6*,11, 12. 13

  • WTAMU Ag Ed Center
    • Written Test
    • Skills Test
    • Interview
  • Testing April 6 will be reserved for those schools who train on April 5 and need to overnight due to travel distance
  • IMPORTANT: Be sure to check the yes box on the application if you wish to train April 5 and test April 6

Participants who successfully complete the program by attending all trainings and achieve an average test score of 70 or above will receive a certificate
of completion and a jacket or a vest.
